Cinderella

My kids and I presented Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella the week before Thanksgiving, and it was extremely well-received. We had the most fun putting this musical together, and I'm already missing these kids.

Until next year, my loves!

Halloween at NEJ

Yesterday was a really fun day at school. Not just because it was Friday... but because it was also Halloween. Everyone dressed up, and we all had a great time at the pep rally, where the seniors did the "Thriller" dance.

After school, several departments set up tents for our first ever Tent or Treat event. Several of the kids helped me set up a tent representing the Drama Department, and then we handed out candy and played games with kids before the football game started. It was a great time!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

One word stories

Last week we did an activity in Speech class called "one word stories." Students worked in pairs to tell a story using only one word at the time. Things got interesting pretty quickly.

Because the partner couldn't feed words or give hints, we ended up hearing things like "The unicorns ate pop tarts because they like yellow turkeys."

After laughing ourselves silly, my sweet kiddos helped me organize all the costumes from the last 5-8 years.

Then we ate to celebrate Zach's birthday. Happy birthday, buddy!

Classroom Challenge: No Talking

Today in both speech classes, we were only allowed to use nonverbal communication. It was quite interesting since we also brought food to share.

We utilized the board for things that just HAD to be said... Like "Quit hogging the brownies!" We eventually ran out of room and started on the other board.

Shea, like a complete weirdo, brought Jello to a class party. Yes, Jello. Can we all just say a collective "WHAT?!"

We discovered that it's quite difficult to communicate without speaking. It's possible... But not easy. I also discovered that despite the garbage on the radio today some kiddos still have good taste. We listened to Styx, AC/DC, and Boston.

Nobody said anything (save a few chuckles and sneezes), and they all passed the classroom challenge with flying colors! Good job, guys.
